Border police apprehend 95 Cambodians for suspected illegal border hopping
The 815th Border Police Force arrested 95 Cambodian workers who were suspected to have attempted to illegally crossed the Cambodian border into Thailand.
The group was arrested by the authorities at the border stream in Lvea Village, Boeung Beng Commune, Malai District, Banteay Meanchey on the afternoon of April 24.
An official from the 815th Border Police Battalion said that the 95 Cambodian workers had returned from Thailand to Cambodia during the Khmer New Year and during the time of their arrest, they were returning to Thailand for their work. According to the official, the group also included 39 women and 11 children.
The workers were detained by the authorities for the violation of the laws as well as for precaution as the Covid-19 situation in Thailand is still a cause for deep concern. After their interrogating the group, the Cambodians were handed over to the specialized unit of Malai District Police Inspectorate for further action.
